Job description

House Repair & Maintenance
Auckland

We have a pool cover box that also serves as a seat. It's made from kwila. One of the hinges on the lid has broken. We've used a wedge to keep open when rolling cover in and out, which has stressed the hinges and isn't satisfactory. So I'm wanting the lid repaired and a strut (think that's what they're called) at either end to hold the lid up securely. As it's kwila it's heavy. The pool cover is 3 metres wide and comes almost to the edge so not a lot of space for a strut. So may need some creative thinking to sort, but would like to get sorted so more safe and secure. Hope pictures make the above clear. Thanks

Tradesperson reply
"Concept, design and implementation of heavy box lid latch using rare earth magnets to secure, when open, the heavy lid of swimming pool cover enclosure, with hardwood timber. Safe operation is now assured. Dowel added to provide towel rail and give nautical "cleat" look. I enjoyed finding an elegant solution to this problem. "
