Fix and put together dark green melamine coated office desk

I have an L-shaped dark green melamine coated office desk, which matches the book case and cabinet. I asked a friend to help me put together the desk after shifting which has now ripped out screws from the gib. This is an $800.00 desk which I don't think I can find the colour again to replace (huge bill anyway!). I would like the desk fixed and put together for me in my office. If possible, perhaps replace the broken back board exactly the same? And, my friend suggested just moving the screws "along" ...that will still look broken and probably not support the back board properly as the back board screws were evenly placed.
