Build slatted shelves for hot water cylinder cupboard

I have a narrow space beside my hot water cylinder in it's cupboard, and would like some slatted shelves (for linens) built in beside the cylinder. I know it's likely only wide enough for one pile of linens per shelf, but I don't have a huge amount and any extra storage in this house is always good. I'm hoping to get the job done while I'm around home on leave in mid-Oct.
