With thousands of tradies across NZ, Builderscrack has your job covered
We have some slight damp in a downstairs room noticed on the carpet at the outer wall edge of the room after removing fitted furniture to install new carpet. On advice of another tradie we ripped back the gib. There is some damp rot in a vertical strut and the base plate as well, these need replacing. It appears the damp has been creeping in slowly over many years through small cracks in the concrete wall. It's a 1940s state house, concrete foundation with the coating, weatherboard upper. If the external coating on this is restored, we might solve the problem, but will also obviously need some internal work as well, restoring things to the status quo. Some wall insulation would be good too. Hoping this will fix the problem and our 11 yo can move into the room, but struggling to find someone to come and take a look until the gib removed. So hopefully not a huge job and potentially a filler for someone while waiting for materials to arrive for a bigger build? Would really appreciate anyone coming to take a look so we can have our spare room back! Thanks. Natalie.
