I need a double garage built at our place. I have a garage already, but the council has requested that I demolish it, because it is on a slight lean. It is not quite big enough for 2 cars. I want to replace it with a two car garage. I have an encroachment licence with Wellington City Council for the location of the garage. To build a double garage would require: (i) demolishing the present garage - note: it has fibrillate walls; (ii) get resource and building consent for a double garage; (iii) strengthen or rebuild the garage platform note: there is a 4 metre drop off the back of the garage into a gully; (iv) build the double garage on the new or restrengthened platform. It is urgent that I get started on this, as the council needs to see progress given their concerns about the existing structure.
