Job description

General Building
Wellington

We have a rangehood, but it isn't externally ducted, and we want it to be. We live in a two-story apartment, and there is a void above the kitchen. The ceiling is very high (not sure how high, maybe 6 metres?) so we would prefer the ducting to go through the wall at the side of the void, to the side of the building, instead of having a long pipe up the wall to the roof. As the kitchen is right in the middle of the building, the ducting would have to go through the bathroom and bedroom (in the ceiling space - those rooms have normal height ceilings) to get to the exterior. There is existing ducting in the bathroom ceiling for the shower extractor fan, which we assume goes through the bedroom ceiling on its way to an external vent in the building wall. We're in an apartment building with monolithic type cladding - the external wall vent would be facing south, in a windy area, and we are especially concerned to minimise the risk of leaking/water damage. That face of the building is also frequently exposed to strong southerly winds. As the ducting would be quite long, we want to know if the fan on the rangehood would be strong enough to do the job. We're open to suggestion as to what would be more practical, if the above isn't the best way to do the job. We're in the Wellington CBD. Just looking for a quote at this stage. Pictures attached show the rangehood, kitchen, and external wall with existing vent from the shower.
