Install Deck Flashing and Replace Lower Siding

Job image

Job description

General Building
Waiheke Island

My house is clad with plywood siding, and is completely surrounded with a wooden deck. The cladding is 20 years old now and holding up well, but on a south-facing wall that doesn't dry out over winter, a small amount of rot has started at the bottom, where the cladding meets the deck. The wall is 3.5 metres wide. I'm thinking the bottom 10 cms or so should be removed, and replaced with something that stands up to moisture better (like HardiePlank), properly flashed with regard to the remaining plywood above, and the deck. Would appreciate someone taking a look and maybe suggesting a better approach. Needs to be done sometime this summer.
