My house was raised during earthquake repairs a few years, leaving a too big step up to the front and to the back door. The builders came up with two solutions I am not happy with - a wooden floating step for the front door (sitting on the tiled front porch) and a concrete slab for the back door. I need better solution for each but am not sure how best to solve it. I am interested in getting some design ideas and then ideally having those ideas built. What I don't like about them: 1. They do not look good 2. Neither is as functional as they could be (I can at least get in my house now but it's still tricky for me). My preferences: 1. I would prefer tile over wood for the front entry. 2. I am okay with concrete as the material for the back entry Note: these are intended to guide design options but I am happy to review/discuss.
