Builder to investigate interiorwalls

Hello, Purchased a house that had had some work done to it. It appears that the vendors did not do some of this work correctly - but I have no idea. I have been told that there was a pipe next to the toilet that should have been capped but wasn't. A friend advised us of this and did cap this pipe but not before water possibly seeped into this pipe and possibly into the walls. We need someone to advise us if there is a problem, what the problem is and how to fix it. I suspect the wall will need to be cut away to assess. Thanks all
