x2 Brick pillars for gateway

I need two brick pillars built at my front gateway, as an entrance to the property. I would like to hang a gate off each pillar later on. I already have two pallets of bricks leftover from my new house build. I'm price conscious, but not to the expense of good quality workmanship. Would be good if there's experience in using bricks to create a small feature at top of each pillar, such as a layer of bricks as a lip/edging. Note, no foundations are in place, currently has wooden gate posts which will be removed before project begins.
