Brick Pillars for Entrance Gate

Raising Arch in Chimney above Stove

We are hoping to raise the height of the access to our stove by raising the level of of the opening in the brick chimney that surrounds the stove. There is steel arched lintel under the bricks that form the arch and we are hoping we can remove the two layers of bricks and happy to have it level rather than an arch if that works. The chimney was repaired following the 1935 Napier earth quake. We do not live at Tutira but the self address system doesn't cope with Tongoio about 40 minutes sout...
