I recenty had an asbestos survey completed on my 1950s single unit residential dwelling and as anticipated after sampling was analysed there was asbestos found in the plaster finish of the textured ceilings of the small toilet and hallway. The laboratory identified the asbestos type as chrysotile. While both ceilings are generally in good safe condition, there is some deterioration as you can see from the photos around the edges of the ceilings, the ceiling being in good to low damage condition within the hallway and low to medium damage condition in the toilet. As my plans are to do some refurbishment in particular to the lighting in these areas that may disturb the ceilings, the survey has recommended that it is removed by at least a worksafe registered class B Licenced Asbestos Removalist. As the area is well under 10m2, probably approximately 7m2, I have more options, however I am looking for a registered Asbestos Removalist with at minimum a class B licence. I would pefer a quote based on an assessment visit to remove the textured ceilings from both the toilet and hallway. I am also interested in whether this would include the replastering of the ceiling once the textured ceiling was removed, though are happy to get a separate tradesperson in to do this latter part, as I will be renovating other parts of the house at a later date. My preference would be to have someone do a site visit this week or very early next week and if the job proceeds to have completed within the next 2 weeks at the latest. The earlier the better.
