I am a builder, planning on putting a new ensuite bathroom where our lounge is currently. One of the existing rooms in the house will become the new lounge area which requires the removal of two load bearing walls. The roof is cement tiles, and the span of the structural beam required is roughly 5.2m. So the beam will be required to take the full load of the roof at that section(it would be directly under the ridge beam) and the ceiling load with 13mm gib, room size is 4.2m x 5.2m. The job is calculating the beam required and drawing plans for both the ensuite and the new beam/potentially new piles.
