French Doors
Job description
The first part of the job is to install 2 x french Doors, one in each of two bedrooms. Longer term I am wanting to add a two bedroom, one bathroom extension, and a deck. Upper Hutt City Council advise me that their records only have copies of the building permit and that any consent application for any work must be completed in a full Building Consent application as opposed to an Amendment to Building Consent application, as the house was constructed prior to some change in process in 1989. On this basis, if I am having to make application for full Building Consent, it makes sense to me to apply in one process for the three separate alterations, albeit in the short term, the first job to be undertaken is to install the french doors in two existing bedrooms. UHCC advise I must submit plans drafted by a licenced Drafts man, as opposed to the plans I drew up and submitted. Thus, I am wanting to have plans drawn up for the existing house and intended alterations. The French Doors are straight forward with no special design requirements needed, The two bedroom/bathroom addition is more complex as whilst I have some designs in my head I am not sufficiently knowledgeable about design to know what can or cannot be done or what is the best option. The deck design is fairly straight forward. I am wanting to have the French Doors installed as soon as possible. The bedroom extension and deck can wait until sometime next year. I can supply photos of the house etc once I know how the process works and what is required.
