We have a bungalow style house with a 3 story architect-designed extension at the back of the house from 30 years ago that currently has wooden windows some of which leak. We are considering replacing these with aluminium windows but are not sure if this is the right decision.
We would like professional advice on:
Whether aluminium is suitable for our house, or if timber/other options would be better.
The best type of glazing (we think double glazing, but would like guidance on low-E, thermal break, etc.).
Window style, design, and finishes that will complement the architecture.
Thermal efficiency, ventilation, and compliance with current building standards.
Cost, durability, and long-term maintenance considerations.
We are seeking an experienced architect or designer who can advise us before we commit to replacing the windows.
