Stump removal or grinding required

I have a laurel tree stump in an area up against the house. It had been planted in a brick enclosure which has been mostly removed due to the brick enclosure being pushed out by the root system. I want this stump removed or ground before rebuilding the bricked area. Note the area is not attached to the house, however the tree roots may have grown under the house, it's hard to determine. No rush whatsoever for the job to be done.
