Problem with the door switch/lock

Essentially there is a problem with the lock or door switch on the dishwasher. No longer clicks/locks when closing the door meaning you can't put a cycle on because it thinks the door is not shut properly. The dishwasher still washes dishes really well and serves us well, this has been the only fault in recent times. The dishwasher is a F & P Soft Touch but I'm not sure how old it is,
