Dryer not working and washing machine to look at balance error occasionally

Our dryer has power going to it but the drum wont spin - you can hear it trying Our washing machine - seems to get a Simpson E17 error code and jumps out of balance if its not a full load or if certain stuff is washing. Someone said the balance lever could be damaged Would love a idea on costing first and if straight forward to go ahead with the job
