Driveway retaining wall

Posted 1 day ago

Hi we have a relatively short down sloping driveway and we are keen for a quote to add a concrete retaining wall behind it and level the driveway to a flat pad with a carport over it. It’s likely to need council consent and therefore whoever gets the job would need to apply for consent for the work. Space below the retaining would also need to be concreted. Unsure how much these cost and so I cannot give a correct estimate of this work, if you can please advise, how soon the work could st...

Spa bath repair

Posted 1 day ago

I have an older 'Stylus' corner spa pool (circa +15 years) which is leaking when turned on. It hasn't been used for a long time and I believe a seal has dried out over time because of lack of use and has resulted in this problem. There is an access panel to get to the motor/pipework area, it is a bit small but I have no problem with enlarging this if necessary as long as a suitable replacement panel/cover can be fitted. I'm looking for a quote to remedy

Hi, I own a small boarding house which has an undocumented fire alarm system which was installed many, many years ago by a previous owner. In order to become code compliant the council have asked us to provide a 'second hand report, records of works'. I have the original specifications and building consent forms but nothing more recent than that. Can anybody help me with this?

We have a bund wall to complete, but running out of hands to do it - we've got the blocks on site, and the anchors done into the concrete pad, but need someone to come and lay the blocks proper. ~80 blocks in total (open-end bond beam), would probably take a few hours. Indoor job, so no need to worry about the weather - but need it done ASAP! Photo shows what we've done to date (don't worry about the painting, we'l...

Disconnecting old gas heaters

Posted 1 day ago

I have two gas heaters in the house that I would like removed as part of renos. The mm first one I want doing is this gas one in the hallway. I want it removed, and for you to not see the metal bit coming from the floor. The one in the fireplace isn't urgent, but I figure. If you are coming it might be easier to do them at the same time. With that one, my Intention is to remove the fireplace and just have a gib wall. The gas has been disconnected, according to a tag on the box outside. But...

Kitchen Tiling and Extractor Fitting

Posted 1 day ago

In accordance with the impending new healthy home regulations, we need to fit an kitchen extractor to our rental property. We also need tiling around the freestanding stove as the paint is getting quite damaged and clearly hard to keep clean. There is two difficulties with the tiling and proper stove hood extractor: There is no gap allowing for tiling, so may need to alter hot water cupboard to increase stove slot width. And a proper stove extractor hood may not be possible, and would need the...

Wiring for new sleepout

Posted 1 day ago

We have built a little cabin on our property and we would like to connect power to it, with 2 lights and 3 power sockets. The cabin is just under 10sqm, 4m high, and it is about 4m from the main house. It has timber walls inside and out with polystyrene sheets of insulation in between and no ceiling space so I don't know if there would be any space to run wires inside the walls. The photos posted are of a very similar cabin, taken from the Allwood Sheds website: ... It has a small sleeping...
