Except when you have more than two children, have guests over to stay or want to use a bedroom as a study or home office. That\u2019s when adding on an extra bedroom for your kids is a great solution to giving your family more living space&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h2>Adding an extra bedroom for your kids<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Your family enjoys living in your current location<\/li>\n<li>You have equity available in your property to use for loans if required<\/li>\n<li>You&#8217;d like to increase the equity in your property<\/li>\n<li>You have land available around your home to increase the size of the building, or are willing to build upwards<\/li>\n<li>You want to avoid entering the competitive property market<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>An additional child\u2019s bedroom can be created by adding an extension, a loft conversion or moving existing internal walls. A registered architect will be able to create plans which are required by both the council and your builder. They will work with you to alter your existing house plan to fit your requirements and budget.<\/p>\n<p>This may involve adding a passageway or a second storey depending on the layout of your home and available land. If you are altering the structural integrity or weather tightness of your home, a Licensed Building Practitioner is required. They have the necessary qualifications and experience for completing restricted building work such as adding an extension or altering load bearing walls.<\/p>\n<p>Adding on a small bedroom may seem an affordable option, but this may backfire when selling your property. In general, double bedrooms are seen more favourably than single.
