You’re not thinking about marketing, reviews, or search rankings. But while you’re on the tools, Builderscrack is still working on your behalf. Here’s everything working in your favour while you get on with the job.

Most tradies think of BC as the place they get jobs from, and they’re not wrong. But that’s only part of what’s happening, underneath the leads, BC is quietly building something that outlasts any single job: your presence, and the reputation attached to it.

It’s finding you access

When a homeowner posts a job on BC, it gets matched to you by trade and location, then sent out in waves so you’re not competing against everyone at once. As a result of our own marketing to homeowners, BC brings in one job roughly every five minutes across NZ, which means there’s a constant stream of work landing in front of tradies who are set up to receive it. This is what keeps you out of the feast-famine cycle: a slow week followed by a mad scramble. There’s always something in the pipeline. But getting the lead is only part of what’s happening.

Building your presence

The leads Builderscrack sends you are only as good as the settings behind them. BC delivers targeted leads directly to you based on your trades and locations, so getting your settings right is what makes that targeting work in your favour. Even though you set these up when you first joined, they’re worth revisiting.

Your BC profile works for you well beyond the leads you chase. It sits in the Builderscrack directory and shows up in Google search results, so a homeowner searching for your services can land on your profile directly and send their job details straight to you. They’ve found you and chosen you before you’ve even seen the job.

Around 2,700 new homeowners join the platform every month, and your profile is one of the places a good share of them land. You can see total profile views in your Performance metrics page.

Collecting reviews on your behalf

Reputation compounds like interest, building value over time. Each review looks good on its own, but stack enough of them up and they become something homeowners can’t ignore.

Once you mark a job complete, BC automatically prompts the homeowner to leave a review, so you don’t have to ask, chase, or feel awkward about it. This matters more than it might seem. Life moves on pretty quickly, and before you know it you’re organising the next job, but we’ve built a system that reminds homeowners to leave a review for a job well done so that you have something to show for it.

Every review sits in a 7-day pending window before it goes public, so you see it before anyone else does. Respond within that window and your reply publishes alongside the review.

Leveraging trust with third-party verification

What makes a BC review different from a review anywhere else is that it’s tied to a real job. Anyone can leave a Google review, even someone who’s never actually hired you. A Verified Work Review only comes from a homeowner who connected with you through BC, and it’s rated across four categories: workmanship, cost, schedule, and communication. A homeowner reading that has far more to go on than a star rating alone. See how BC verifies tradies and reviews.

Your reputation on BC starts building the moment you chase a job, not just from the ones you win. Homeowners can leave a Verified Communication Review based on how you handled the quoting and connection stage, even on jobs you didn’t get.

You can also bring in reviews from work completed elsewhere, by importing your Google reviews, so that homeowners see the full picture. For more on how to build out your profile and reviews, see our profile guide.

!["How]("https://builderscrack.co.nz/blog/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Screenshot-2026-09-30-142638-1.png" ""Builderscrack")

You got into it to do the work you’re good at.

If you were doing this alone, you’d be building and maintaining a website, and even with good SEO, it can take six months or more before it starts pulling in enquiries. Paid ads are the faster route, but you pay for every click, competitive trades cost more per click than niche ones, and the ad disappears the moment you stop paying. None of it guarantees a lead, and all of it is time and money that isn’t going toward tools, materials, or your next job.

BC has been building that visibility for 19 years so you don’t have to: strong search rankings, consistent presence, and a name homeowners already know when they start looking for someone to hire.
