Long thin vertical crack on exterior brick wall

it is like 1.5mitre long, only happen on one side of the house, probably due to foundation subsidence or movement? it is in a slight slope section,.probably 40 degree slope. we need very professional to find out the root cause and fix the issue properly, not just hiding it. we found out.that in the basement, the pipe from bathroom is not connected properly and water pouring down to the soil ground and god knows how long it has been like this since tenants never inform the landlord. Could it be the reason why the subsidence happens which cause the crack?
