Cut down bookcase

We have a solid rimu bookcase 1.8m high by 1m wide with 5 fixed shelves with a thin rimu veneer back. It is however 400mm deep. We would want it cut in half to produce two bookcases each 200mm deep. One of the new bookcases would obviously need its own thin rimu veneer back and the other would have to have the cut front face made smooth.
