Cabinet Makers
A cabinet maker is a tradesperson who uses various woodworking skills to create cabinets, shelving and furniture. The fundamental focus of the cabinet maker is the production of cabinetry. Although they may also produce items that would not be recognized as cabinets, however the same skills and techniques apply.
A cabinet may be built-in or freestanding and is usually custom made for a particular situation and it is fixed into position, on a floor, against a wall, or framed in an opening. Freestanding cabinets are more commonly available as off-the-shelf items and can be moved from place to place if required. Cabinets may be wall hung or suspended from the ceiling.
Cabinet making involves techniques such as creating appropriate joints, dados, bevels, chamfers and shelving systems, the use of finishing tools such as routers to create decorative edgings.
