Brick Layers

A Brick Layer is a tradesperson who lays bricks and concrete blocks to construct and repair buildings, walls, arches, chimneys and paved areas. The term also refers to personnel who use blocks to construct block work walls and other forms of masonry; they may also work with tiles and other materials. Often a bricklayer is colloquially known as a "brickie".

There are many different bonds, or patterns, in which the bricks can be laid. Common bonds include; Flemish bond, Monk bond, Stretcher bond, English bond, American bond, Garden wall bonds, Rat-trap bond.

Their work involves the following tools: Brick trowel, Pointing trowel, Spirit level, Boat level, Line and pins, Tingle plate, Corner blocks, Hawk, Chisel, Hammer, Jointing tools, Tape measures.
